MINUTES OF OCTOBER 3, 2005
COUNCIL MEETING
FOR CITY OF GOOD HOPE, GEORGIA
I. Mayor Garrett called the meeting to order.
II. Roll Call:
Members Present: Randy Garrett, Jerry Clements, George Prather, Jimmy
Guthrie, Mike Malcom, Truman Robison and Dean Freese.
Members Absent: None
Guests: None
III. Motion to accept minutes of September 6, 2005 meetings as submitted
made by Councilman Prather and seconded by Councilman Freese.
IV. Motion to approve agenda as presented.
V. Public Forum: None
VI. Committee Reports and Updates:
1. Walton County Municipal Association meeting will be October 20, 2005 in
Social Circle
2. The County/Cities meeting at the Commissioners Office will be help on
October 24, 2005 at 9:30 A.M.
3. The Finance Committee drafted a new budget for 2006. Copies were
distributed for review by the council.
VII. Unfinished Business –
1. Guidelines for public use of Municipal Building. Becky sent copies to
Mayor Garrett and Attorney Malcom for review and to revise to accommodate
the Good Hope scout troop. No changes were made and the checklist provided
by Councilman Freese was approved.
VIII. New Business
1. A letter has been written to John Redding to enforce all Soil & Water
Conservation District agreements. This is per the MOA between Good Hope,
County, and SWCD. A motion was made by Councilman Guthrie to accept and
Councilman Freese seconded the motion. Motion approved.
2. The November Council meeting date will be November 7, 2005, but place
will be moved to the new Archives Building due to the election on November
8, 2005.
IX. Council Discussion Items:
1. Recreation Issues – County Recreational Director Jody Johnson did not
show up for meeting. Councilman Freese will contact him again to come to the
November meeting. Councilman Freese is working on the wish list for the
Council to present to County.
2. Mayor’s Motorcade participation – Wednesday – December 7, 2005 – We are
planning to post signs with the Wish List for the Veteran’s Hospital. Mayor
Garrett to get more information as to needs. We will also send the $100
Donation.
3. Street lights – If there is a question as to the Public Safety, we will
place the street light at a cost of $78 per year, for the protection on the
children walking from the Christian Church to the General store in Good
Hope. Councilman Guthrie to call the Walton EMC to add the light.
4. Councilman Freese to check on the Short Term CD’s to help earn monies for
the City of Good Hope. We will discuss further at next meeting.
X. Motion was made by Councilman Robison and seconded by Councilman
Freese to adjourn.
