MINUTES OF
NOVEMBER 7, 2005 COUNCIL MEETING
FOR CITY OF GOOD HOPE, GEORGIA
I. Mayor Garrett called the meeting to order and opened with prayer.
II. Roll Call:
Members Present: Randy Garrett, Jerry Clements, George Prather, Jimmy
Guthrie, and Dean Freese.
Members Absent: Mike Malcom and Truman Robison
Guests: David Mullis, Mr. Mitchell, & Eli Bell
III. Motion to accept minutes of October 3, 2005 meetings as submitted
made by Councilman Guthrie and seconded by Councilman FreeseIV. Motion to
approve agenda as presented with one additions was made by Councilman Freese
and seconded by Councilman Clements. Add Traffic as Item 2 under New
Business.

VII. Unfinished Business: None
VIII. New Business
1. A request has been made for an additional street light on Highway 186
between intersection and Good Hope Christian Church for the purpose of
public safety. Councilman Guthrie made a motion for a new street light to be
added. The motion was seconded by Councilman Clements. Motion approved.
2. Councilman Prather stated that he had talked to the head of traffic in
the County concerning the speed limits in the City of Good Hope. We need to
reduce the Speed Limit within the City Limits of Good Hope. Trucks have been
observed traveling 55 MPH thru town on a regular basis.. Councilman Prather
made a motion to reduce the Speed Limit to 35 MPH from City Limit to City
Limit. Mayor Garrett to write letters to County and State making this
suggestion. Councilman Freese seconded. Motion approved. A motion was made
and approved to amend the motion to state “Not to exceed 35 MPH”
IX. Council Discussion Items:
1. Maintenance / cleaning for Municipal Building. A contract should be on an
as needed basis. Councilman Prather to contact Governor Nolley (who cleans
Bethel Church) to get an estimate from him.
2. Councilman Freese talked to Kevin Little and talked to and E-Mailed Jody
Johnson to have him attend our meeting. He did not show up again.
3. The next meeting of the Walton County Municipal Association will be held
on December 15th at 7:00 PM at Walnut Grove.
